Kingsand and Cawsand

No items found.

The charming twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand are steeped in history. Colour washed cottages, dating back centuries, line the narrow streets.

Also, small beaches to enjoy, one dog friendly, all beaches here are great for children who can delight in rock pooling.

You will find quaint shops, galleries, and pubs and cafés serving great food.

At the end of The Cleave in Kingsand you will find the location for part of the filming of Mr Turner, a Mike Leigh film, starring Timothy Spall as the famous artist JMW Turner.

Kingsand is the home of the historic Clocktower, known locally as The Maker with Rame Institute, which made national news in 2014 when it was dramatically damaged in the violent winter storms.

Thankfully The Institute has been saved and is a testament to everyone who helped to save the building and bring it back to its former glory.

Look out for the old Devon-Corn sign depicting the historic boundary line - Kingsand used to be in Devon, Cawsand in Cornwall!! Now both villages sit in the county of Cornwall.
