Sea view cozy cottage, Penlee Woods, Cawsand
Set with Mt Edgecumbe woodland behind and sea views of Plymouth sound in front. The cottage is a few minutes walk down the path, to the unspoilt fishing villages of Cawsands and Kingsand. This cottage has been our family home for over 30 years, It's a cosy space, kitchen and lounge downstairs and upstairs 2 bedrooms, 1 DB Seaview and 1 DB woodland view and a small shower room including Victorian hip bath. The cottage has plenty of original features. This terraced cottage was built by Customs and Excise in 1820 to try and stop the smuggling that was taking place in the local area, so these walls have many a tale to tell! Think Poldark! Years ago Cawsand bay would have been a busy port with large galleons and sail boats en route for long voyages to far flung destinations.
Please take it as it is and feel relaxed and at home here.
We have electric heating and a multi fuel burner.
We have a long well established garden, left wild in places and full of flora and fauna. Large Camellias flower until May and roses, wisteria and many other plants create a colourful cottage garden. Birdsong in the mornings and evenings is wonderful, we have blue tits nesting in boxes and robins, great tits, wrens, dunnocks, blackbirds, chaffinch, black caps, woodpecker, goldfinch are all regular visitors.
The front garden has a couple of seating areas and is kept wild to encourage as much wildlife and insects as possible. Hedgehogs are also regular visitors.
Deer are regular visitors in the woodland behind the cottage and can often be spotted, tho well camouflaged amongst the undergrowth.
Sunsets and beaches: on a sunny Eve head to Rame Head or Whitsand Bay for some spectacular sunsets, Whitsand Bay has amazing beaches, you can still find a quiet cove to swim and relax.
